    FLARE is an outreach of Chattanooga Christian School under the direction of Emma Pannkuk.
    FLARE dance studio offers quality dance instruction with a variety of styles and techniques in a Christ-centered environment. FLARE welcomes students of all ages throughout Chattanooga—you do not have to be a CCS student to participate. We desire to impart a love of dance as we encourage excellence in technique and artistry. It is our hope that our dancers would gain an appreciation for the beauty of art as well as the joy of dance.

  • Creative Movement | Tuesdays | 3:30-4:15 PM

    This class explores movement expression while introducing students to some of the fundamental aspects of ballet. Students will learn to follow movement patterns and travel across the floor in a learning environment that inspires creativity. | January 17-March 28
  • Beginning Jazz | Junior Level | Thursdays | 3:45-4:45 PM

    Jazz is a style of dance with many different style breakdowns. This class introduces students to foundational jazz technique; movements deriving from the hips, shoulders, and spine. Students will learn basic technique exercises and combinations across the floor. | January 19-March 30
  • Class & Choreography | Open Level | Fridays | 3:30-5:30 PM

    The class portion is based in modern dance technique with the choreography portion covering a variety of styles. | January 20-March 31
  • Waltz | Open Level | Tuesdays | 5:00-6:00 PM

    This class introduces students to waltz basics and ballroom partnership etiquette. Waltz is a social ballroom style and is characterized by box steps using music that has three beats per measure. | Jan. 17, Jan. 24, Jan. 31, and Feb. 7
  • Jazz | Open Level | Thursdays | 5:00-6:00 PM

    Jazz is a style of dance with many different style breakdowns. This class introduces students to some of the fundamental jazz technique exercises and combinations while also incorporating a more contemporary style interpretation. Some of these defining jazz movements include isolations, spirals, and hinges. | Jan. 19, Jan. 26, Feb. 2, and Feb. 9
  • Swing | Open Level | Tuesdays | 5:00-6:00 PM

    This class introduces students to swing steps and ballroom partnership etiquette. Students will learn both East Coast and West Coast swing dancing basics. | Feb. 21, Feb. 28, Mar. 7, and Mar. 14
  • Musical Theatre Dance | Open Level | Thursdays | 5:00-6:00 PM

    This class focuses on technique based in ballet fundamentals and layered with jazz and other social dance styles required for musical theatre. Classes will include warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Students participate in physical conditioning to improve strength, flexibility, and performance skills. Emphasis will also be placed on developing the ability to use movement to express character and story to an audience as well as to gain a better understanding of how dance and choreography bring dramatic elements to life. | Feb. 23, Mar. 2, Mar. 9, and Mar. 16

About the Instructor

Emma Pannkuk has been dancing since 1997 and trained at Ballet Tennessee where she learned a variety of styles including classical ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and tap. She started at CCS in 2019 and has been teaching since 2015. Emma teaches FLARE dance classes as well as High School Ballroom.
