  • Mission

The mission of the CCS Theatre Department is to engage the creation, fall, and redemption of God's world by analyzing, understanding, and then recreating human nature in a way that is perhaps impossible without theatre. We strive to stretch students personally and artistically; to comprehend the values of hard work, respect for other human beings, and reception to constructive criticism; and to learn how to use theatre for God's glory. We hope to educate and serve our community by telling compelling stories by way of personal artistic expression.

Show Stopper

Our renowned Musical Theatre department frequently performs to sold-out crowds in the 550-seat Fine Arts Center auditorium. Theatre classes focus on acting, directing, and writing. Students also have the opportunity to explore stage combat, stage makeup, scenic design, children's theatre, and radio plays. Each summer, musical theatre camps give students a crash course in everything involved in putting on a show.

When lovable, smooth-talking Harold Hill comes marching into River City, Iowa, you know there’s going to be trouble. He promises to teach the town’s children how to play in a magnificent marching band as part of a big con, but falling in love with Marian the Librarian wasn’t part of the deal. When Marian tries to expose him as a swindler, Hill sets out to win her heart and save his hide. Will the town get wise to Hill or will Marian make an honest man out of him? This wonderful slice of Americana will leave you humming all-time favorites such as “Ya Got Trouble,” “Shipoopi,” “Goodnight Ladies,” “Gary, Indiana,” “Til There Was You,” and the show-stopping ”Seventy-Six Trombones.”
