Phil Massey
Head Coach
Massey served 16 years as the head football coach at Baylor School. His overall record is 174-109. Prior to Baylor, he worked as an assistant coach at Memphis University School (TSSAA DII-AAA) and as the head coach at Haywood High School where he guided his program to back-to-back DI AAAA state runner-up finishes (1994-95). Coach Massey is a graduate of Baylor University in Texas and holds an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from Bethel University.
Coach Massey's faith in Jesus Christ serves as the foundation of his life and work to lead and disciple the players and staff within his football program. He also has an impressive track record as a coach who possesses a deep understanding of the game of football, in- and off- season training structure and design, and the development and integration of individual players with diverse skill sets into a cohesive team that shares a common purpose. Additionally, he has a wide knowledge of the mechanics of TSSAA DII-AA Coach Massey will bring from his time at both Baylor School and MUS and the value his experience will bring to our whole athletic department.
Phil Massey has been married to his wife, Sandy, for 35 years, and together they have two children, Tyler (married to Savannah) and Houston. The Massey family attends Calvary Chapel in downtown Chattanooga.
