The streets of downtown Chattanooga buzzed with excitement on Saturday, April 5, as student-built electric cars zipped around the track at the Chattanooga Green Prix. Hosted by
green|spaces, the annual sustainability-focused event brings together students from across the region to design, build, and race electric vehicles.
With more than 40 cars in the competition, the event blended STEM education, environmental awareness, and racing into a one-of-a-kind experience. Since its launch in 2017, the Green Prix has become a celebration of innovation, teamwork, and sustainable practices.
This year, Chattanooga Christian School was represented for the first time by its own Electric Car Team—and they delivered an outstanding performance. Competing in the Modified Division, the team earned second place overall. In addition to a clean and strategic race, CCS students excelled in the “Over the Wall Challenge,” showcasing their speed, precision, and teamwork in the pit.
Scott Rosenow, high school engineering and science teacher, served as the team’s faculty sponsor and is also involved with Tennessee Valley Robotics (TNVR), the non-profit organization that provided the car kit and all race preparation materials.
“It was a fantastic experience for the participating students,” Rosenow said. “It started as part of my Engineering Design Principles class and was continued by the actual drive team members who could commit to the required time for practice and the race day activities. I would definitely like to continue this next year with additional race opportunities as members of the GreenPowerUSA racing schedule. These races occur in different parts of Alabama, Georgia, and Texas, with the national title race occurring at Talladega Motor Speedway. I had several CCS students come to the race to watch, show their support, and express their interest in getting involved next fall.”
Green|Space's mission is “working toward regional sustainability by progressing the way we live, work, and build in Chattanooga and the surrounding region.”
Congratulations to team members Caleb Bradham (senior), Max Stiles (junior), Willem Dunmore (sophomore), and their dedicated team manager Rick Johnson (senior) for their hard work and determination. Their success reflects hours of preparation and a shared passion for innovation and sustainability.
CCS is incredibly proud of the team’s achievement and the way they represented the school with excellence. For more information on the Green Prix,
