From dance to movie making to theatre and photography, young artists will find a camp they love at CCS. Our Theatre Camps are increasingly popular with both our CCS students and kids from the broader community.

  • Art Camp | 5th-8th grade | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Come enjoy a week of making art. This camp is the perfect chance to work with graphite, charcoal, water color, and acrylic paints. We will also spend the week talking about the elements of art and principles of design as well as an introduction to color theory. This camp will be led by Ms. Elizabeth Johnson. The cost of this camp is $150. 
  • Picture Perfect | 5th-8th grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Do you love taking pictures, but are not sure how to edit them? Come learn how to use photoshop and other editing tools to create beautiful images. This camp will be led by Ms. Elizabeth Johnson. The cost of this camp is $150.

  • Drumline for Kids | 2nd-5th grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    This camp will give kids a chance to play real drum line cadences and grooves on real drums. Campers will learn about each section of the drumline and how to read drum music, and they will go home with their own set of sticks and practice pads. Participants will share their skills at a CCS football game with the Pep Band in the fall. This camp will be led by Mr. Kirk Ward, Director of Bands and Guitar Instructor for CCS Upper School. The cost of this camp is $175. 
  • Needle Point | 4th-8th grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Have you ever wanted to learn the art of needle point? Now is your chance. This week of camp will focus on the techniques of needle point and other string arts and crafts. Come join Ms. Jenny McCreary for a week of creativity. The cost of this camp is $175.
  • Videography | 5th-12th grade | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Learn advanced videography and editing skills as you create an original short film. Students who would like to learn more about acting for the screen are also welcome! The camp will be lead by CCS Videographer, Heath Austin, along with guest industry professionals. The cost of this camp is $150.

  • Woodworking | 4th-5th grade | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Come experience what it is like to work in the CCS Woodshop. You will have a great time learning how to safely build a project that you will be able to take home at the end of the week. Let's build something together! This camp is lead by CCS Woodshop teacher, Mr. David MacCallister. The cost of this camp is $175.
  • Advanced Woodworking | 6th-8th grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Come experience what it is like to work in the CCS Woodshop. You will have a great time learning how to safely build a project that you will be able to take home at the end of the week. Let's build something together! This camp is designed for students with some experience with tools and building. This camp is lead by CCS Woodshop teacher, Mr. David MacCallister. The cost of this camp is $175.

  • Musical Theatre Camp | K-8th grade | AM/PM/Full Day Options

    Become a part of a Chattanooga Christian School summer tradition as you experience our fabulous Musical Theatre Camp! Rising K-8th grade campers will learn all that goes into putting on a musical theatre show. Campers work on performance skills (singing, dancing, and acting), stagecraft skills (creating costumes, props, and sets), and how to pull a show together through teamwork! Every child will be a part of our dazzling final production on Friday, June 26 at either 11:00 AM or 3:00 PM.

    Camp Options:
    Two-week participation is required. You have the choice between morning, afternoon, or full day camp. The times and costs of this camp vary:

    Musical Theatre Performance Camp: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM or 1:00 PM–4:00 PM - $300
    Stage Design Art*: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM or 1:00 PM–4:00 PM - $300
    Full Day Musical Theatre Camp** (Performance and Stage Design): 9:00 AM–4:00 PM - $450

    *Stage Design Art dives even further into the skills needed to create the visual effects of the show. Students become the set creators, prop makers, and costume designers for their show.

    **Lunch option available for the full day camp for $30/week ($60 total for 2 week camp).

  • Hand Building with Clay | 6th-8th grade | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    This camp will be an introduction into the incredibly versatile material of clay. Through techniques like slab and coil building, students will learn how to create many different forms out of clay. Additionally, they will learn how to incorporate 2D design into their 3D forms with different surface decorating techniques like sgraffito. From a slab built mug to a coil built bowl, everyone will come home with exciting, personalized creations. This camp will be led by Ms. Mia Baker, the Pottery teacher at CCS. All tools and materials are included. The cost of this camp is $175. 

July 6-10

  • Messy Adventures | PreK-2nd grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Come join us for a week of messy games, crafts, and adventures. Campers will be guaranteed to get messy with shaving cream, paint, and many other creative activities. This camp will be led by Ms. Paige Turner. The cost of this camp is $175.
  • Build and Play Ukulele | 4th-8th grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Find out why the ukulele is one of the easiest and most fun instruments to play. Campers will learn the history and design of the instrument as well as how to play chords and melodies. Students will build their own ukulele as well as learn about the instruments that make up popular Hawaiin music. Mr. Kirk Ward is the Director of Bands and Guitar Instructor for CCS Upper School. He has a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar Performance from UTK and has been a professional guitar player and instructor for over sixteen years. The cost of this camp is $175. 
  • Printmaking and Screenprinting | 5th-12th grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Come learn the basics of printmaking and screenprinting. Campers will spend the week going over the elements of design, the screen printing process, and how to carve linoleum plates. This camp will be led by Ms. Elizabeth Johnson. The cost of this camp is $150.
  • Photography | 6th-9th grade | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Photograms and pinhole photography are the means for participants to learn that photography is all about light. Basic skills are learned for working with photo paper, enlargers, chemical processing, negatives, and final positive prints. The CCS darkroom is non-toxic and student safe. No camera is required. The camp will be lead by CCS Videographer and Photographer, Heath Austin. The cost of this camp is $175.  

July 13-17

  • Creative Movement | PreK-2nd grade | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    In this introductory dance class students will explore movement in a structured learning environment. Young dancers will have fun while learning the basic concepts of stretching, coordination, locomotor skills, and ballet! This camp will be led by Ms. Emma Pannkuk. The cost of this camp is $150. 
  • Creating with Oil Paints | 3rd-6th grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Come spend the week learning the process of preparing a canvas and working with oil paints. Come make beautiful paintings and creations. This camp will be led by MS. Elizabeth Johnson. The cost of this camp is $150.
  • Intro to Choreography | 3rd-8th grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Want to learn how to learn choreography? Ever thought about choreographing your own routines? This camp is for you. Come learn basic steps that could be used when choreographing. Then work on choreographing your own routine during the week! This camp is great for dancers, cheerleaders, musical theatre kids, or kids that just want to learn some choreography! This camp will be led by Ms. Emma Pannkuk. The cost of this camp is $150. 
  • Claymation Videos | 5th-8th grade | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Come learn how to create claymation videos. Spend the week learning how to make clay figures, create a stage, take photos, and create a video on the computer. This camp will be led by Ms. Elizabeth Johnson. The cost of this camp is $150.
  • Recording | 5th-12th grade | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    In this camp, students will learn how to create their own music using a digital DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). We will learn the basics of recording, learn how to make simple loops, and learn how to combine digital loops with audio recording. We will explore the different stages of the recording process- tracking drums & adding digital drum beats, tracking bass bass lines, recording lead instruments such as guitar or keyboard, and tracking vocals. Throughout the process, students will be able to create their own song/ project. This camp will be led by Josh Green and Andrew Meador. The cost of this camp is $175.

July 20-24

  • Making Masterpieces | PreK-5th grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Students will learn basic art techniques to experiment and create original pieces of artwork within a variety of mediums including watercolor, scratchboard, and pen-and-ink. This camp will take place in Mr. Josh Green's art studio on the CCS campus. Mr. Green is the CCS Lower School art teacher. He is a father to four, artist, and musician, and enjoys establishing wonder and curiosity regarding all things creative. This camp is open to students in grades K-5 with a maximum camp capacity of 18 students. The cost of this camp is $175.
  • Camp Rock | 4th-8th grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM (canceled)

    Canceled. Ever want to join a band? Can you play an instrument or sing? If so, this is the camp for you. Come join us for a week of fun learing how to put together a rock band. This camp is lead by Mr. Kirk Ward. The cost of this camp is $150.
  • Nailed It | 4th-8th grade | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Have you ever looked at a craft and thought, "I can make that?" It's time to put your skills to the test. Campers will be given a craft and the supplies to replicate the design. This is a chance to figure out how crafting works. This camp will be led by Ms. Lauren Hilkert. The cost of this camp is $175.

July 20-31

  • Advanced Musical Theatre Camp | 7th-12th grade | 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

    This Workshop is an advanced, audition-based Musical Theatre Intensive! Campers will explore more advanced levels of singing, dancing, and acting in musicals to prepare them for higher levels of musical theatre performance. Pre-requisites: If you have performed in 2+ High School musicals at CCS or 2+ Middle School musicals at CCS, consider this Workshop. Contact the Theatre Director Mary Catherine Schimpf with pre-requisite questions. We are happy to help place you in the best camp for you to grow, lead, and thrive! The cost of this camp is $375.

    *Middle & High School Musical Theatre Workshop Intensive campers must audition in the spring to receive roles (audition date TBD). Campers may arrange an audition directly with the Theatre Director. If a camper lives out of town, he or she may make arrangements to send in a video.
