Middle School Life & Activities
Middle School Clubs & Co-Curriculars
In middle school especially, students are looking for a place to belong. We offer events, activities, and student organizations that help students connect with their classmates as they use their creativity, abilities, and gifts. We also lay the groundwork for the increased servant-leadership abilities that students will experience in high school. We encourage students to invest in the school community by helping with various activities such as Homecoming, Spirit Week, Admissions Preview Days, and other community events.
Middle School at CCS is a time to explore new challenges and discover passions. Students grow through athletics, clubs, service, and faith-based experiences that help them find their place and purpose in our community.
Clubs & Co-Curriculars
There are so many ways for Middle School students to get involved in the CCS community! In addition to the clubs and co-curricular activities below, 6th-8th grade students can participate in a variety of junior varsity and varsity athletics.

Competitive Climbing
The Climbing Club is an outdoor educational program that gives students the opportunity to have an introductory, yet competitive climbing experience. We occasionally boulder in natural areas, but frequently practice and compete at the High Point gyms in Chattanooga. Members experience recreational and competitive rock climbing and bouldering as well as the fulfilling camaraderie that comes with being a part of a team.
In 2024, the Middle School Climbing Team wrapped up the season in a tie for first place in the Interscholastic Climbing League. This is the second title victory in a row!

Competitive Robotics

VEX V5 Robotics (7th–8th)
At CCS, robotics challenges students to think like engineers, collaborate like teammates, and lead like innovators. Through the VEX V5 Robotics Competition—the world’s largest and fastest-growing program for middle and high school students—teams design, build, and program robots to tackle a new engineering challenge each year. Along the way, students gain real-world experience in mechanical engineering, computer science, and project management, while developing essential soft skills like teamwork, communication, and critical thinking. Guided by dedicated teachers and mentors, our students don’t just compete—they grow in confidence, creativity, and a lifelong passion for STEM.
VEX IQ Robotics (4th–6th)
in 2025, CCS expanded its popular robotics program to include VEX IQ teams for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Designed as a stepping stone to the middle and high school VEX V5 program, VEX IQ gives upper elementary students hands-on experience in coding, engineering, and problem-solving. Through fun, team-based challenges, students build foundational robotics skills and confidence that prepare them for future competition—and spark a lifelong love of innovation.
