Sports Camps 2019

CCS offers a variety of sports camps and clinics run by our professional coaching staff. Camps include basketball, tennis, softball, baseball, football, volleyball, cheerleading, and wrestling camps. These specialty clinics and camps give kids opportunities to learn more about their favorite sports and hone their athletic skills. Clinics are open to the public.

Intro to Sports for Girls

June 3-7, 2019 / PreK–2nd grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

This camp is a great opportunity for campers to learn the basics of several sports. Campers will spend time learning basketball, softball, cheer/tumbling, volleyball, and soccer. This camp will be led by Mrs. Alex Boochie. The cost of this camp is $150.


Lower School Wrestling

June 3-7, 2019 / 1st–5th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

This camp will teach the basic, fundamental skills of wrestling. We hope that by attending this camp, participants will begin to grasp the foundational skills necessary to become a successful athlete. Campers will be working with Josh Craft, Head Wrestling Coach, and members of the High School wrestling team. The campers should bring a lunch each day. The cost of this camp is $150.


Co-Ed Basketball

June 3-7, 2019 / 3rd–8th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

Varsity Basketball Coaches Laura Cottrell and Eddie Salter are teaming up to put on an amazing, high energy basketball camp for boys and girls in lower and middle grades—3rd-8th. Coach Cottrell is a four-year high school state champion and former ACC standout basketball player at Clemson University. She brings 19 years of coaching experience at both the college and high school levels to this year's camp. Coach Salter excelled as a basketball player at Covenant College, and over the past 30 years at CCS, he has coached both football and basketball, has brought basketball teams to state appearances, and has produced a number of all-conference players and two Mr. Basketball winners. Campers will spend time practicing and learning shooting fundamentals and mechanics, offensive footwork, ball handling and control, passing and catching techniques, shooting, and much more. Campers will be taught techniques, but more importantly, they will be given tools to practice these skills at home. The cost of this camp is $175. 


Middle School Wrestling

June 3-7, 2019 / 6th–8th grade / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM 

This camp will teach the basic, fundamental skills of wrestling. We hope that by attending this camp, participants will begin to grasp the foundational skills necessary to become a successful athlete. Campers will be working with Josh Craft, Head Wrestling Coach, and members of the High School wrestling team. The cost of this camp is $150.


Intro to Sports for Boys

June 10-14, 2019 / 3rd–5th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

Having trouble deciding what sport you are interested in? This camp is for you. Come spend a week with Greg Davick learning the basics of multiple sports. Each day you will spend time working on learning sports like basketball, football, baseball, soccer and more. The cost of this camp is $150.


Volleyball

June 10-14, 2019 / 3rd–8th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

In this thrilling camp, your daughter or son will learn the fundamentals and explore the wonderful game of volleyball. We will learn how to pass, set, serve, and attack a ball. Throughout the week, your child will enjoy games and fun activities, all while learning the basics of volleyball. Sarah Stutheit, Head Volleyball Coach at CCS and former collegiate player at Lee University, will lead the camp while former and current college volleyball players assist. We are looking forward to having your child attend our camp this summer! Boys and girls are welcome. The cost of this camp is $150.


Middle School Football Camp

June 10-14, 2019 / 6th–8th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

The CCS Middle School Summer Football Camp will focus on football fundamentals, skill development, and offensive/defensive techniques. The campers will also be introduced to the different skill tests such as 40 yard dash, vertical jump, and pro agility test as well as the importance of academics, physical fitness, and spiritual wellbeing. Campers will be taught by current CCS football coaches and players! This camp is for rising 6th-8th graders. The cost of this camp is $150.


Soccer Techniques

June 10-21; July 8-26, 2019 / 5th–9th grade / 8:00 AM–9:00 AM 

The soccer technical development sessions (for boys and girls rising 5th-9th) will consist of practices designed to improve skills involving the soccer ball at one's feet. The technical skills we will work on will be dribbling, turning, changing direction, shooting, making runs, and receiving the ball. Each practice will also contain a conditioning time that will focus on speed, endurance, core strength, and stamina. These sessions will be more intense in nature, as they are designed to see measurable changes in one's ability on the ball, as well as speed and endurance. This camp will be led by Middle School Soccer Coach, Clay Huffaker. The two 3-week sessions will be offered three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) 8:00-9:00 AM. The cost of this camp is a flat payment of $200 at the beginning of the summer, which will allow for attendance at as many sessions as desired.


Lower School Baseball

June 17-21, 2019 / K–5th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

The CCS youth baseball clinic allows students in grades K-8 to learn and improve the basic skills of baseball in a fun, Christ-centered environment. Students will be working with CCS Head Baseball Coach Ben Wharton on skills such as throwing, fielding, hitting, sliding, base running, and pitching. Ben Wharton is a 2003 graduate of CCS, where he received TSSAA all state baseball honors and played pitcher and short stop during the 2002 and 2003 state tournament teams. Wharton continued his baseball career at Bryan College before playing for two independent minor league teams. After retiring from professional baseball, Wharton served as an assistant baseball coach at Covenant College. Currently, Wharton teaches 7th grade history at CCS and also assists the varsity basketball team. The cost of this clinic is $150.


Soccer Positions Camp

June 17-21, 2019 / 4th–8th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

Are you wanting to improve your tactical skills in soccer? Want to learn more about what each position is responsible for? Come spend a week at our Soccer Positions Camp. This camp will led by Gene Nelson who has coached at CCS for 13 years. The cost of this camp is $150.


Middle School Baseball

June 17-21, 2019 / 6th–8th grade / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM 

The CCS youth baseball clinic allows students in grades K-8 to learn and improve the basic skills of baseball in a fun, Christ-centered environment. Learn fundamental tennis skills such as serving and swinging (forehand and backhand). In addition to practicing technique and skill, your child will be introduced to basic rules and etiquette of the game. CCS Girls Tennis Head Coach Melanie Reynolds will lead the camp. The cost of this camp is $150.


Chargers Soccer Camp

July 8-12, 2019 / K–8th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

Come spend a week improving your skills in the game of soccer. This camp will work on technical and tactical soccer skills. It will be a great week for those who want to learn the basics or those who want to improve their skills and knowledge of soccer. This camp will led by Gene Nelson who has coached at CCS for 13 years. The cost of this camp is $150.


Flag Football

July 8-12, 2019 / 3rd–5th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

The CCS Lower School Flag Football Camp is designed to teach the basic skills of football to young athletes. Skills taught include throwing, catching, running, and other key fundamental skills and techniques of the game. Campers will also be taught basic concepts of offensive and defensive play. Team work and team building will be taught in this fun, interactive camp. This camp will be led by Middle School Head Football Coach Chris Fain. The cost of this camp is $150.


Full Contact Football

July 11-12, 2019 / 1st–8th grade / 6:00 PM–8:00 PM 

Join us for two evenings of full contact football. Campers will learn the fundamentals of football through full contact drills and scrimmages. This camp is led by our Varsity Head Football Coach, Mark Mariakis. Campers are required to bring their own pads and equipment. If this is the only camp that you are registering for, email summerprograms@ccsk12.com for a code to have the registration fee waived. The cost of this camp is $35.


Intro to Sports for Boys

Ninja Warrior Camp

July 15-19, 2019 / 1st–6th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

Want to explore some basic Ninja Warrior activities? Campers will work on upper body strength activities as well as balance obstacles. Campers will also spend a day at Superfly exploring their Ninja Warrior Obstacle course. This camp will be led by Clara Wolfe. The cost of this camp is $175.


Cheer Camp

July 22-26, 2019 / PreK–8th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

Come cheer with us! Learn cheers, chants, and dances, and improve tumbling and stunt skills. Have a blast spending time with our varsity cheerleaders playing games, doing crafts, and putting on your very own pep rally on the last day of camp! This camp will be led by Head Cheerleading Coach Ashley Holwerda. The cost of this camp is $150.


Softball

July 22-26, 2019 / 3rd–8th grade / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM 

The CCS Chargers Softball Camp is a great place for your daughter to learn the fundamental skills of the game of softball in a positive learning environment. There will be coaches and players to assist in helping to break down the skills and to ensure that your daughter receives the utmost personal attention. Fielding skills include all positions; we will go over the fundamentals of ground balls, fly balls, throwing form, cut offs, and relays, as well as proper positioning when defending a base. Catching instruction includes blocking, quick release techniques, and framing. Hitting skills include the fundamentals of a swing, which include proper hand placement, stride length, rotation of the lower body, and timing. We will also organize drills and stations that promote bat speed, lower body rotation, contact point, and pitch recognition. This camp will be led by Head Softball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director Lisa Gray. The cost of this clinic is $150.
