Sports Camps 2017

CCS is proud to partner with Chattanooga Football Club (CFC) this summer and work with our own CCS varsity basketball, softball, baseball, football, volleyball, cheerleading, and wrestling coaches. These specialty clinics give kids opportunities to learn more about their favorite sports and hone their athletic skills. Clinics are open to the public.


Elementary & Middle School Boys & Girls Basketball Camp

June 5–9, 2017 / 8:00 AM–12:00 PM / 2nd–8th grade

Varsity Basketball coaches Laura Cottrell and Eddie Salter are teaming up to put on an amazing, high energy basketball camp for boys and girls in elementary and middle grades. Coach Cottrell is a four-year high school state champion and former ACC standout basketball player at Clemson University. She brings 19 years of coaching experience at both the college and high school levels to this year's camp. Coach Salter excelled as a basketball player at Covenant College, and over the past 30 years at CCS, he has coached both football and basketball, has brought basketball teams to state appearances, and has produced a number of all-conference players and two Mr. Basketball winners. Campers will spend time practicing and learning shooting fundamentals and mechanics, offensive footwork, ball handling and control, passing and catching techniques, shooting, and much more. Campers will be taught techniques, but more importantly, they will be given tools to practice these skills at home. The cost of this clinic is $175.


Softball Clinic

June 5–9, 2017 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 1st–7th grade

The Chattanooga Christian Chargers Softball Camp is a great place for your daughter to learn the fundamental skills of the game of softball in a positive learning environment. There will be coaches and players to assist in helping to break down the skills and to ensure that your daughter receives the utmost personal attention. Fielding skills include all positions; we will go over the fundamentals of ground balls, fly balls, throwing form, cut offs, and relays, as well as proper positioning when defending a base. Catching instruction includes blocking, quick release techniques, and framing. Hitting skills include the fundamentals of a swing, which include proper hand placement, stride length, rotation of the lower body, and timing. We will also organize drills and stations that promote bat speed, lower body rotation, contact point, and pitch recognition. The cost of this clinic is $150.


Baseball Clinic

June 5–9, 2017 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / K–8th grade

The CCS youth baseball clinic allows students in grades K-8 to learn and improve the basic skills of baseball in a fun, Christ-centered environment. Students will be working with CCS head baseball coach Ben Wharton on skills such as throwing, fielding, hitting, sliding, base running, and pitching. Ben Wharton is a 2003 graduate of CCS, where he received TSSAA all state baseball honors and played pitcher and short stop during the 2002 and 2003 state tournament teams. Wharton continued his baseball career at Bryan College before playing for two independent minor league teams. After retiring from professional baseball, Wharton has served as an assistant baseball coach at Covenant College. Currently, Wharton teaches 7th grade history at CCS and also assists the varsity basketball team. The cost of this clinic is $150. 


Middle School Football Summer Camp

June 5–9, 2017 / 8:00 AM–11:00 AM / 6th–8th grade

The CCS Middle School Summer Football Camp will focus on football fundamentals, skill development, and offensive/defensive techniques. The campers will also be introduced to the  different skill test such as 40 yard dash, vertical jump, and pro agility test, and the importance of academics, physical fitness, and spiritual wellbeing. Campers will be taught by current CCS football coaches and players! This camp is for rising 6th-8th graders. The cost of this camp is $150.


Elementary & Middle School Wrestling Camps

June 5–9, 2017 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 1st–5th grade

This camp will teach the basic, fundamental skills of wrestling. We hope that by attending this camp, participants will begin to grasp the foundational skills necessary to becoming a successful athlete. Campers will be working with Josh Craft, head wrestling coach, and members of the High School wrestling team. The campers should bring a lunch each day. The cost of this camp is $150.

This camp will teach the basic, fundamental skills of wrestling. We are proud to partner once again with CFC to provide top notch soccer camps. Register for this camp at CFC's website, or walk up on the first day of camp and register on-site. Players in Kindergarten through 5th grade who need care in the afternoons may attend Chargers Day Camp after CFC Camp ends at 12:00 PM. The cost for 1/2 day (12:00–4:00 PM) Chargers Day Camp during this week is $80 for the week with the option of adding After Camp Care (4:00–5:45 PM) for $20. Elementary Volleyball Camp

June 12–16, 2017 / 8:00 AM–11:00 AM / 2nd–5th grade

In this thrilling camp, your daughter or son will learn the fundamentals and explore the wonderful game of volleyball. We will learn how to pass, how to set, how to serve, and how to attack a ball. Throughout the week, your child will enjoy games, fun activities, all while learning the basics of volleyball. Sarah Davis, head volleyball coach of CCS and former collegiate player at Lee University, will lead the camp while former and current college volleyball players assist. We are looking forward to having your child attend our camp this summer! Boys and girls are welcome. The cost of this camp is $150.


Bowling Summer Camp

June 19–23, 2017 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 3rd–12th grade

The CCS Bowling Camp will teach fundamental bowling skills, score keeping, competitive bowling, and more. Campers will meet at Pin Strikes on Lee Highway. The cost of this camp is $150. 


Tennis Camp

June 19–23, 2017 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / K–8th grade

Learn fundamental tennis skills such as serving and swinging (forehand and backhand). In addition to practicing technique and skill, your child will be introduced to basic rules and ettiquette of the game. CCS girls tennis head coach Melanie Reynolds will lead the girls camp and Ryan Van Winkle will lead the boys camp. The cost of this camp is $150. 


Elementary Football Camp

June 19–23, 2017 / 8:00 AM–11:00 AM / K–5th grade

The CCS Elementary School Football Camp is designed to teach the basic skills of football to young athletes. Skills taught include throwing, catching, running, and other key fundamental skills and techniques of the game. Campers will also be taught basic concepts of offensive and defensive play. Team work and team building will be taught in this fun, interactive camp. The cost of this camp is $150.


Elementary Basketball Team Play Camp

June 2630, 2017 / 8:00 AM11:00 AM / 2nd5th grade

This camp is designed to build on the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, and passing. Campers will learn the basics of offensive and defensive team play. Offensively, campers will learn how to screen, ball movement and proper player movement, and general floor spacing. Defensively, campers will learn stance and proper positioning. Campers will compete in a 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 tournament while applying the rules and fundamentals learned during individual drill work. The cost of this camp is $150.


Middle School Volleyball Camp

July 10–14, 2017 / 8:00 AM–11:00 AM / 4th–8th grade

During this camp, your child will learn the fundamentals of volleyball while diving deeper into the sport. We will work on passing, setting, serving and hitting form. We will also be developing teamwork and team environment skills throughout the camp. Your daughter will develop herself as a player while having fun! Sarah Davis, head coach of CCS volleyball and former collegiate player at Lee University, will lead the camp while former and current college volleyball players assist. We are looking forward to having your daughter attend our camp this summer!

July 10–14, 2017 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 6th–8th grade

The Middle School Team Play Camp is designed to teach all aspects of offensive and defensive team play. We will also spend time teaching the skills of being a good teammate. Offensively, campers will learn how to screen and how to read screens, concepts of ball movement and proper player movement, general floor spacing, and how to play with tempo. Defensively, campers will learn proper defensive stance, positioning, and the concepts of team defense. The instruction will be done through station/drill work as well as through competitive 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 tournament play. The cost of this camp is $150.


Tennis Camp

July 24–28, 2017 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / K–8th grade

Learn and improve on fundamental tennis skills such as serving and swinging (forehand and backhand). Cheer Camp

July 24–28, 2017 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / K–8th grade

Come cheer with us! Learn cheers, chants, and dances, and improve tumbling and stunt skills. Have a blast spending time with our varsity cheerleaders playing games, doing crafts, and putting on your very own pep rally on the last day of camp! The cost of this camp is $150.
