Sports Camps 2018

CCS is proud to partner with Chattanooga Football Club (CFC) this summer and work with our own CCS varsity basketball, tennis, softball, baseball, football, volleyball, cheerleading, and wrestling coaches. These specialty clinics and camps give kids opportunities to learn more about their favorite sports and hone their athletic skills. Clinics are open to the public.

Co-Ed Basketball

June 4–8, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 2nd–8th grade

Varsity Basketball coaches Laura Cottrell and Eddie Salter are teaming up to put on an amazing, high energy basketball camp for boys and girls in elementary and middle grades. Coach Cottrell is a four-year high school state champion and former ACC standout basketball player at Clemson University. She brings 20 years of coaching experience at both the college and high school levels to this year's camp. Coach Salter excelled as a basketball player at Covenant College, and over the past 30 years at CCS, he has coached both football and basketball, has brought basketball teams to state appearances, and has produced a number of all-conference players and two Mr. Basketball winners. Campers will spend time practicing and learning shooting fundamentals and mechanics, offensive footwork, ball handling and control, passing and catching techniques, shooting, and much more. Campers will be taught techniques, but more importantly, they will be given tools to practice these skills at home. The cost of this camp is $175. 


Middle School (MS) Football

June 4–8, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 6th–8th grade

The CCS Middle School Summer Football Camp will focus on football fundamentals, skill development, and offensive/defensive techniques. Campers will also be introduced to different skill tests such as 40-yard dash, vertical jump, and pro agility test, and the importance of academics, physical fitness, and spiritual wellbeing. Campers will be taught by current CCS football coaches and players! This camp is for rising 6th-8th graders. The cost of this camp is $150.


Lower School (LS) Wrestling

June 4–8, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 1st–5th grade

This camp will teach the basic, fundamental skills of wrestling. We hope that by attending this camp, participants will begin to grasp the foundational skills necessary to becoming a successful athlete. Campers will be working with Josh Craft, Head Wrestling Coach, and members of the High School wrestling team. The campers should bring a lunch each day. The cost of this camp is $150.


Middle School (MS) Wrestling

June 4–8, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 6th–8th grade

This camp will teach the basic, fundamental skills of wrestling. We hope that by attending this camp, participants will begin to grasp the foundational skills necessary to becoming a successful athlete. Basketball Summer Clinic

June 4–July 27, 2018 (*no camp July 2–6) / 4:00 PM–6:00 PM / 6th–9th grade

Looking for a way to keep those basketball skills up for the summer, or are you looking to improve your skills for the next season? This summer sessions basketball clinic is the answer. For seven weeks this summer, Coach Farlett will run sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00 PM–6:00 PM. He will focus on improving your technique and skills during these sessions.


Chattanooga Football Club (CFC) Soccer

June 11–14, 2018 (*no camp June 15) / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / Ages 5–16

We are proud to partner once again with CFC to provide top notch soccer camps. Register for this camp at CFC's website, or walk up on the first day of camp and register on-site. Players in Kindergarten through 5th grade who need care in the afternoons may attend Chargers Day Camp after CFC Camp ends at 12:00 PM. The cost for 1/2 day (12:00–4:00 PM) Chargers Day Camp during this week is $80 for the week with the option of adding After Camp Care (4:00–5:45 PM) for $20. Campers may also attend Chargers Day Camp on Friday, June 15 since CFC camp is not in session this day. Intro to Lower School (LS) Sports–Girls

June 11–15, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / PreK–2nd

This camp is a great opportunity for campers to learn the basics of several sports. Campers will spend time learning softball, basketball, cheer/tumbling, volleyball, and soccer. This camp will be led by Morgan Olson. The cost of this camp is $150.


Flag Football

June 11–15, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 3rd–5th

The CCS Lower School Flag Football Camp is designed to teach the basic skills of football to young athletes. Skills taught include throwing, catching, running, and other key fundamental skills and techniques of the game. Campers will also be taught basic concepts of offensive and defensive play. Teamwork and team building will be taught in this fun, interactive camp. Darnell Woods will be leading this camp. The cost of this camp is $150.


Soccer Foot Skills

June 11–July 27, 2018 (*no camp July 2–6) / 7:00 AM–8:00 AM or 8:00 AM–9:00 AM / 5th–9th

The soccer technical development sessions (for rising 5th-9th grade boys and girls) will consist of practices designed to improve skills involving the soccer ball at one's feet. The technical skills we will work on will be dribbling, turning, changing direction, shooting, making runs, and receiving the ball. Each practice will also contain a conditioning time that will focus on speed, endurance, core strength, and stamina. These sessions will be more intense in nature, as they are designed to see measurable changes in one's ability on the ball, and additionally speed and endurance. The sessions will be offered three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) with two session possibilities 7:00 AM–8:00 AM, and 8:00 AM–9:00 AM. The max per session will be 10 people, and signups will be done through an app that will allow parents to plan in advance which sessions they would like their kids to attend. The fee will be a flat payment of $200 at the beginning of the summer and will allow for attendance of as many sessions as desired.


Baseball Clinic

June 18–22, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / K–8th grade

The CCS youth baseball clinic allows students in grades K-8 to learn and improve the basic skills of baseball in a fun, Christ-centered environment. Students will be working with CCS Head Baseball Coach Ben Wharton on skills such as throwing, fielding, hitting, sliding, base running, and pitching. Ben Wharton is a 2003 graduate of CCS, where he received TSSAA all state baseball honors and played pitcher and short stop during the 2002 and 2003 state tournament teams. Wharton continued his baseball career at Bryan College before playing for two independent minor league teams. After retiring from professional baseball, Wharton has served as an assistant baseball coach at Covenant College. Currently, Wharton teaches 7th grade history at CCS and also assists the varsity basketball team. The cost of this clinic is $150.

Tennis

June 25–29, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / K–8th grade

Learn fundamental tennis skills such as serving and swinging (forehand and backhand). In addition to practicing technique and skills, your child will be introduced to basic rules and ettiquette of the game. CCS Girls Tennis Head Coach Melanie Reynolds will lead the camp. The cost of this camp is $150.

Lower School (LS) Team Basketball

July 9–13, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 2nd–5th grade

This camp is designed to build on the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, and passing. Campers will learn the basics of offensive and defensive team play. Offensively, campers will learn screening, ball movement and proper player movement, and general floor spacing. Defensively, campers will learn stance and proper positioning. Campers will compete in a 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 tournament while applying the rules and fundamentals learned during individual drill work. This camp will be led by Jonathan Farlett. The cost of this camp is $150.


Volleyball

July 9–13, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 3rd–8th grade

In this thrilling camp, your daughter or son will learn the fundamentals and explore the wonderful game of volleyball. We will learn how to pass, how to set, how to serve, and how to attack a ball. Throughout the week, your child will enjoy games, fun activities, all while learning the basics of volleyball. Sarah Davis, Head Volleyball Coach of CCS and former collegiate player at Lee University, will lead the camp while former and current college volleyball players assist. We are looking forward to having your child attend our camp this summer! Boys and girls are welcome. The cost of this camp is $150.


Full Contact Football Camp

July 12–13, 2018 / 6:30 PM–8:30 PM / 1st–8th grade

The Chattanooga Christian School padded football camp is designed to give young players instruction, guidance, and preparation for their upcoming youth league season. For that student who is playing football for the first time, it will give them controlled and properly supervised insight and a taste of real contact football. Head Coach Mark Mariakis and the varsity CCS staff, along with current players, will present the proper fundamentals of padded, contact football. Blocking and tackling are the fundamental skills that must be mastered to ensure not only success, but also safety. Our goal will be to give each player confidence and courage as they enter the season. In addition to blocking and tackling, other fundamental skills for each position will be taught. The cost of this camp is $35 per player.


Flag Football

July 16–20, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 3rd–5th grade

The CCS Lower School Flag Football Camp is designed to teach the basic skills of football to young athletes. July 16–20, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 5th–12th grade

Need help with a layup or jumpshot? Well this is the camp for you. Come work on your shooting ability and technique! This camp will be led by Wes Moore, Girls Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach. The cost of this camp is $150.


Cheer Camp

July 23–27, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / PreK–8th grade

Come cheer with us! Learn cheers, chants, and dances, and improve tumbling and stunt skills. Have a blast spending time with our varsity cheerleaders playing games, doing crafts, and putting on your very own pep rally on the last day of camp! The cost of this camp is $150.


Softball

July 23–27, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 3rd–8th grade

The Chattanooga Christian Chargers Softball Camp is a great place for your daughter to learn the fundamental skills of the game of softball in a positive learning environment. There will be coaches and players to assist in helping to break down the skills and to ensure that your daughter receives the utmost personal attention. Fielding skills include all positions; we will go over the fundamentals of ground balls, fly balls, throwing form, cut offs, and relays, as well as proper positioning when defending a base. Catching instruction includes blocking, quick release techniques, and framing. Hitting skills include the fundamentals of a swing, which include proper hand placement, stride length, rotation of the lower body, and timing. We will also organize drills and stations that promote bat speed, lower body rotation, contact point, and pitch recognition. The cost of this clinic is $150.
