Intro to Stage Choreography

June 4–8, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 4th8th grade

Thinking of trying out for a musical but feel like you need some experience with learning choreography? This camp is for you. Learn how to learn stage choreography before Musical Theater Camp! If you're not going to Musical Theater Camp this year, that's ok! This camp can help prepare you for any musical auditions. This camp will be led by Emma Pannkuk of Ballet Tennessee. The cost of this camp is $150.


Fairy Princess

June 4–8, 2018 / 9:00 AM12:00 PM / PreK–2nd grade

This camp will allow your daughter to focus on a different princess each day. This is done with crafts, songs, dress up, games, and much more. Monday: Ariel, with beach themed activities; Tuesday: Elsa, with snow activities; Wednesday: Bell, Beauty and the Beast, Thursday: Cinderella, caretaker and shoes; Friday: Moana, with tiki activities. This camp will be led by LeighAnne Grant. The maximum number of campers is 15. The cost of this camp is $175.


Exploratory Movement

June 4–8, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / PreK2nd grade

Students will explore movement in this introductory dance class in a structured learning environment. Young dancers will have fun while learning the basic concepts of stretching, coordination, locomotor skills, and ballet! This camp will be led by Emma Pannkuk of Ballet Tennessee. The cost of this camp is $150.


Pottery

June 4–8, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 6th8th grade

This camp will be an introduction into the incredibly versatile material of clay. Through techniques like slab and coil building, students will learn how to create many different forms out of clay. Additionally, they will learn how to incorporate 2D design into their 3D forms with different surface decorating techniques like sgraffito. From a slab built mug to a coil built bowl, everyone will come home with exciting, personalized creations. Natalie Black is the Pottery teacher at CCS. She has her BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in 3D Art. This camp will take place in the pottery studio on the CCS campus. All tools and materials are included. The maximum number of campers is 12. The cost of this camp is $175.

Lower & Middle School Musical Theatre Camp

Become a part of a Chattanooga Christian School summer tradition as you experience our fabulous Musical Theatre Camp! Rising K-8th grade campers will learn all that goes into putting on a musical theatre show. Campers work on performance skills (singing, dancing, and acting), stagecraft skills (creating costumes, props, and sets), and how to pull a show together through teamwork! Every child will be a part of our dazzling final production on Friday, June 22 at either 11:00 AM or 3:00 PM.

Camp Options: Two-week participation is required. You have the choice between morning, afternoon, or full day camp. The times and costs of this camp vary:

  • Musical Theatre Performance Camp: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM or 1:00 PM–4:00 PM - $300
  • Stage Design Art*: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM or 1:00 PM–4:00 PM - $300
  • Full Day Musical Theatre Camp (Performance and Stage Design): 9:00 AM–4:00 PM - $450

*Stage Design Art dives even further into the skills needed to create the visual effects of the show. Students become the set creators, prop makers, and costume designers for their show.


Photography

June 11–15, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 9th–12th grade

Photograms and pinhole photography are the means for participants to learn that photography is all about light. Basic skills are learned for working with photo paper, enlargers, chemical processing, negatives and final positive prints. The CCS darkroom is non-toxic and student safe. Participants bring their own water bottles and snacks. No camera is required. This camp is led by Melanie Ray. The maximum number of campers is 8. The cost of this camp is $175.


High School Hip-Hop

June 11–15, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 8th–12th grade

This class will be an introduction to popping, locking, and breaking techniques used in Hip-Hop dance. We will explore freestyle movement in hip-hop and learn how to properly execute the dynamics needed for each step. We will also learn how to isolate different parts of the body while moving your feet at the same time. There will be new techniques learned and fun choreography with every class! This camp will be led by Emma Pannkuk of Ballet Tennessee. The cost of this camp is $150.


Aloha Ukulele

June 25–29, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 4th–6th grade

Find out why the ukulele is one of the easiest and most fun instruments to play. Campers will learn history and design of the instrument as well as how to play chords and melodies. Students will build their own ukulele as well as learn about the instruments that make up the popular Hawaiian music. Kirk Ward is the Director of Bands and Guitar Instructor for CCS Upper School. He has a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar Performance from UTK and has been a professional guitar player and instructor for over fifteen years. The cost of this camp is $175.


American Girl Doll

June 25–29, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 3rd–5th grade

Campers will make handcrafted, customized accessories for their American Girl dolls. All materials will be provided. Don’t have an American Girl doll? No problem! Bring one of your favorite dolls with you to this fun and crafty camp. This camp will be led by Miriam Arnold. The maximum number of campers is 15. The cost of this camp is $175.

School of Rock

Ever thought of starting a band? Well now is your chance. Come join Mr. Ward in his own version of School of Rock. Kirk Ward is the Director of Bands and Guitar Instructor for CCS Upper School. He has a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar Performance from UTK and has been a professional guitar player and instructor for over fifteen years. The cost of this camp is $150.


Crafty Chargers

July 9–13, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 4th–8th grade

Come be creative and crafty! This camp is designed to bring out the crafter in any kid. All materials are provided. We will create crafts using the holidays throughout the year as our theme. Come join us for a fantastically creative week! This camp will be led by Paige Turner. The maximum number of campers is 15. The cost of this camp is $175.

Making Masterpieces

July 9–13, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / K–5th grade

Students will learn basic art techniques to experiment and create original pieces of artwork within a variety of mediums. Mediums will include watercolor, scratchboard, and pen-and-ink. This camp will take place in Mr. Josh Green's art studio on the CCS campus. Mr. Green is the CCS Lower School art teacher. He is a father to four, artist, and musician, and enjoys establishing wonder and curiosity regarding all things creative. This camp is open to students in grades K-5th with a maximum camp capacity of 18 students. The cost of this camp is $150.


Street Percussion

July 9–13, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 4th–12th grade

Are you the kid that can't stop drumming? Come learn how to drum on anything you can find. Join Mr. Green as he teaches how to create drums out of various materials such as pipes, garbage cans, and much more. Mr. Green is the CCS Lower School art teacher. He is a father to four, artist, and musician, and enjoys establishing wonder and curiosity regarding all things creative. The cost of this camp is $175.


Art Camp

July 16–20, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 4th–12th grade

Come enjoy a week of making art from drawing to painting to small sculptural projects. This class is the perfect chance to try a range of different media and try your hand at things you have never tried artistically. We will learn some foundational things according to each media choice and will experiment with new ideas. Prepare to get messy! This camp will be led by Shaun LaRose, Upper School Art Teacher. This camp is open to students in grades 4th-12th with a maximum camp capacity of 18 students. The cost of this camp is $150.


Intro to Nature Printing: Making Art from Leaves & Fish

July 23–27, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 5th–12th grade

Artists and non-artists alike can become awesome nature printers! The Japanese have been making art from real fish since before cameras and refrigerators. In this camp you’ll learn how to make beautiful prints from leaves and fish on paper, fabric, and even your own clothing. We’ll learn how and when to use different kinds of ink as well as color theory. Students will enjoy a fishing expedition to catch the fish that will be used to create these masterpieces. Students will take home many beautiful prints that their family will love. Besides teaching full time at CCS, camp instructor Matt Monahan is a gyotaku artist who teaches classes around the country. His work has been featured in the news, local stores, and even on Japanese television! Google "The Mighty Bluegill" for more information about this beautiful artform. This camp is open to students in grades 5th-12th with a maximum camp capacity of 20 students. The cost of this camp is $175.


Digital Music Camp

July 23–27, 2018 / 9:00 AM–12:00 PM / 6th–12th grade

In this camp, students will learn how to create their own music using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). We will learn the basics of recording, learn how to make simple loops, and learn how to combine digital loops with audio recording. We will explore the different stages of the recording process- tracking drums & adding digital drum beats, tracking bass lines, recording lead instruments such as guitar or keyboard, and tracking vocals. Throughout the process, students will be able to create their own song/project. This camp will be led by Elizabeth Lawrensen, Lower School Music Teacher and musician, and Andrew Meador, High School Science and STEM Teacher and musician. The cost of this camp is $200.


CCS Pep Band and Drum Line

July 23–27, 2018 / 1:00 PM–4:00 PM / 5th–12th grade

This camp is designed to help students who want to be a part of the Pep Band or Praise Band. Come join Mr. Ward for the week as he helps prepare students for these types of bands. This will be a great week of music and fun. Advanced Musical Theatre

July 23–August 3, 2018 / 10:00 AM–3:00 PM / 7th–12th grade

This Workshop is an advanced, audition-based Musical Theatre Intensive! Campers will explore more advanced levels of singing, dancing, and acting in musicals to prepare them for higher levels of musical theatre performance. Prerequisites: If you have performed in 2+ High School musicals at CCS or 2+ Middle School musicals at CCS, consider this Workshop. Contact the Theatre Director with prerequisite questions. We are happy to help place you in the best camp for you to grow, lead, and thrive! The cost of this camp is $375.

*Advanced Musical Theatre campers must audition in the spring to receive roles (audition date TBD). Campers may arrange an audition directly with the Theatre Director. If a camper lives out of town, he or she may make arrangements to send in a video.
