CCS Student-Athlete Lucy Heald Reaches French Open Doubles Final, Continues Rise Among World's Best Junior Players

Chattanooga Christian School student-athlete Lucy Heald continues to establish herself among the world's elite junior wheelchair tennis players, most recently reaching the Girls' Junior Wheelchair Doubles Final at the French Open.

Competing against the top junior wheelchair athletes in the world, Heald also advanced to the semifinals of the Girls' Junior Wheelchair Singles draw, adding another impressive accomplishment to an already remarkable international season.

At just 16 years old, Heald is currently ranked number three in the world among junior wheelchair tennis players by the International Tennis Federation after reaching a career-high ranking of number two earlier this year.

Her success on the international stage has continued to build over the past year. In 2025, Heald entered the U.S. Open as the No. 1-ranked junior wheelchair tennis player in the United States and No. 4 in the world.

She has captured international singles titles in France, Great Britain, and Italy while earning doubles championships across Europe and the ITF Junior Wheelchair Tour.

One of the highlights of her career came when she represented Team USA at the 2025 BNP Paribas World Team Cup in Antalya, Turkey. Competing in her first international team event, Heald helped lead the United States to a silver-medal finish.

She has also competed on some of tennis's biggest stages, including the U.S. Open, Australian Open, and now the French Open.

Earlier this year, she advanced to the championship match of the Australian Open Junior Wheelchair Doubles competition, finishing as runner-up.

"We are incredibly proud of Lucy and all she has accomplished," said CCS Girls Tennis Head Coach Jason Tipton. "Her achievements continue to inspire fellow students while demonstrating what is possible through hard work, determination, and faith-filled perseverance."

As she continues competing against the world's best junior wheelchair tennis players, Heald remains a source of pride for Chattanooga Christian School and the Chattanooga community. Her accomplishments reflect not only exceptional athletic talent, but also the perseverance, character, and dedication that define the CCS mission.
