Soccer at CCS
CCS has a long tradition of fielding competitive soccer teams, with enough players for full varsity and junior varsity squads. These teams compete in Division 1 A-AA, playing some of the top schools in the region. The Boys Varsity team won State Championship titles in 2001 and 2011, and the Girls Varsity team won a State Championship title in 1997.

Interim Head Coach
Gene Nelson is a graduate of Chattanooga Christian School. While at CCS, he was a four sport athlete and on the first team in school history to win a state title (1995 Cross Country). Gene has been coaching boys soccer at CCS since 2006 and was the middle school girls coach from 2012 to 2017. In 2018, he was the assistant coach for the girls soccer team that won the state runner-up title. While assisting with the boys program he helped lead the team to several trips to the state tournament including a runner-up title in 2010 and a state title in 2011.
Gene attended Michigan State University where he majored in journalism and played club soccer. After graduation he went on to play professional soccer in Romania for FC Petrolul (reserve team) and London City in Canada. While still playing, he obtained a sports management degree and holds a USSF National D license.
