The Glenwood School (TGS) is the second K–5 campus of Chattanooga Christian School, located in the heart of Chattanooga at New City Fellowship, Glenwood. A partnership between CCS and New City Fellowship, TGS brings the same Christ-centered curriculum, academic excellence, and joyful learning environment found on our main campus to a smaller, neighborhood setting. Here, students are known deeply and encouraged to grow—academically, spiritually, and personally—within a diverse community grounded in God’s truth and grace.

Curriculum Overview

Our teachers use engaging teaching methods and focus on individualized instruction and dynamic teaching practices. Both math and reading are taught in small group settings, which allows teachers to build trust, encourage participation, and assess learning.

At TGS, students learn using the same standards-based curriculum as CCS, enriched with biblically integrated instruction that encourages them to see God’s truth in every subject. Our approach equips students with a deep understanding of the world and the God who created it, helping them develop wisdom, curiosity, and confidence.

Language-Rich Classroom Environments

We want our students to love reading, so our literacy approach includes explicit teaching and focused practice that is individualized, dynamic read-alouds in the classroom, independent reading, and exposure to a rich variety of available texts. Students receive explicit, direct phonics instruction in the early years and later focus on rich vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking as they learn to read.

Math Instruction and Technology Integration

Math instructions includes coding and real-world problem solving. Manipulatives, technology, and projects are useful tools for helping students make math connections with practical applications. The Into Math curriculum supports the ability to teach students to think critically about math and to go beyond facts and drills. Students achieve high levels of math reasoning and are able to grow at an individualized pace.

History and Science Integration

We show our students how science and historical events connect to their other areas of study by integrating instruction across subjects.
Our science curriculum focuses on units of study that include such things as human growth and development, plants, animals, astronomy, ocean life, simple machines, and many other areas that reveal God through his creation. Our social studies curriculum helps students see history through the lens of God's faithfulness.

Bible Lessons & Weekly Chapel

Bible instruction is at the core of how we see every other area of academics. TGS uses the CSI Bible curriculum, and students grow in their Bible knowledge through focused study that builds year-by-year. We align our curriculum with our integrated Bible instruction and a Christian worldview, so that our students are able to understand how everything in creation points back to Christ.

Worship is a vital part of life at TGS. All students participate in weekly, age-appropriate worship as part of participation in our Christian community and our commitment to minister to the spiritual needs of our students.
